We would recommend a sit on top kayak for beginners. Our 9ft single models have a wide base & are very secure on the water. If you are interested in a double kayak our 12ft sit on top kayaks are alos great for beginners.
Yes, doubles can be paddled from the rear seat by one person, but would not be as easy to handle as a single.
